The Modern Artisan
Nov 2019 | YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP
The Modern Artisan project is a collaboration between YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP and the Princess Foundation. Six selected fashion design students from Milan, designed a fashion collection influenced by sustainability and data and inspired by Leonard Da Vinci who was famous for combining science and art. The designers were helped by the talented teams of NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER, THE OUTNET & YOOX who are experienced in creating their own label collections. When design have been completed it is then manufactured by six students from UK from The Princess Foundation. With the collection finally being sold across the brand websites.
The project is part of YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP’s sustainability education program. Each part of the process is being documented with an exhibition expected late 2020 after the collections launch. Watch the first short film in full here.
Identity
The identity uses the symbol of life which was sketched by Leonardo made up of six rings that create the symbol of life. Rings animate in a continuous loop so it can used as a content loader, which symbolising the data aspect of the collection.
